Microtech OTF Size Comparisons

Microtech Knives makes out the front automatics with precision. This gives each OTF knife accurate tolerance and makes them some of the best in the world. However, Microtech actually manufactures several models of out the front knives and we are constantly asked about the differences between the models. We thought we would take some OTF knives and show you some of the differences for comparisons sake.

The Microtech UTX-70 is the most compact out the front on the market. It’s a super small double action OTF. The UTX-70 gets its name from the fact that it is 70% the size of an Ultratech.

The Microtech Troodon was their flagship knife of 2006. It gets its name from the Troodon dinosaur.

The Microtech UTX-85 is compact, and functional. It gets its name because it is 85% the size of an Ultratech. Note that the UTX-85 is actually a larger knife than the Troodon, but the Troodon has a larger glass breaker.

The Microtech Nemesis is a slightly different OTF. It is single action, with a charging handle like the Halo series. It also features a “liner-lock” type lock which secures the knife open. Instead of pushing the button to retract the knife, like the Halo, you push the liner lock over and pull down on the charging handle.

The Microtech Makora II is the Ultratech on steroids. Boom! They are the largest double action production knives Microtech has made yet.
